The Monroe Police Department is participating with DocView to provide citizens with an online source of retrieving a vehicle crash report. The reports are available in Adobe’s PDF file format for a nominal cost.
If you are advised as being at fault in a motor vehicle crash:
Step 1: Pick up a copy of your crash report between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM at the front desk of the Monroe Police Dept located at 700 Wood Street. (One block west of the Monroe Civic Center) The report should be ready with two business days after the date of your crash.
There is a fee of approx $7.50 (cash only) for the report. Call 318-329-2636 for additional information.
Step 2: Take your copy of the crash report to your insurance agent. Your agent must then provide you with a written statement that a claim has been filed, your insurance policy was in force at the time of the crash, and the damages to the other vehicle(s) involved will be taken care of.
Step 3: You must bring the letter provided by your insurance agent to the Monroe City Court, located at 600 Calypso Street (Southwest of the Monroe Civic Center, white building facing 1-20) on the date for your court appearance, located at the bottom of your traffic citation.
You must provide the letter to the Monroe City Judge overseeing your case before your traffic citation can be paid. Note: If you wish to pay your traffic citation out of court you must still provide the letter before payment will be accepted.
Call 318-329-2580 to check on the cost of any traffic citations and whether it can be paid prior to your court appearance date- some traffic charges require a mandatory appearance before a Judge.
