Tip Leads To Concealed Handgun At School

School officials found an 8 year old male student to be in possession of a loaded .22 caliber pistol that was concealed inside a book bag. The book bag was in close proximity to the student at the time of the contact.

The school official took the student and the book bag to the office and removed the threat from the common areas of the school.

Monroe Police were notified and responded immediately and took custody of the firearm and the student.

The student is to be expelled from the school per school policy. The student was released to the custody of his parents because the age of the offender does not meet the age of culpability in this state.
