On Sunday 3-3-2013 at 1:06pm, Monroe Police were dispatched to the 3700 block of Barlow Street in reference to a shooting. Investigation revealed that Justin Jones had shot himself in the upper thigh.
Officers spoke with Justin Jones who stated he wanted to kill himself because of family issues. Jones is a black male, DOB: 6/6/1991, and lives in the 3700 block of Barlow Street.
A rifle was used to shoot himself in the leg. He was transported to a local hospital where he was treated for moderate injuries. Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing.
No other persons were injured in this incident.
