New Landscape At MPD

Monroe employees and community volunteers used donated materials to improve the landscape around the MPD station on Wood Street.

The landscape around the Monroe Police Department main building at 700 Wood Street was renovated Thursday, using materials donated by Roach’s Nursery, Pepsi, Lowe’s, Home Depot, and ACME Brick. The workforce to put all the new shrubs in place were employees from Monroe’s police, fire, and public works departments, as well as volunteers from the Junior League and the Monroe “Green Team”.

Chief Holmes, as well as all of the police officers and employees who were working in the heat and dirt, were suitably dressed for the occasion. The day started at 6am with building flowerbeds around the sides of the building, and by 4pm, the new plants were in place.

This is one of the larger projects that Chief Holmes has initiated to improve the appearance of the police department, and he expressed his appreciation for all of effort by the employees and volunteers who participated.
